Colin Matthew BrownAugust 14, 1972 ~ November 28, 2017 (age 45)
Boardman - Colin Matthew Brown, 45, passed away on Tuesday evening, November 28, 2017.
Colin was born August 14, 1972 in Youngstown, a son of Christy Brown, Sr. and Loretta (Balsinger) Mackey.
Colin was a 1990 graduate of Boardman High School and received an associate's degree in art from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. From an early age, Colin had a love and passion for the arts. He was fortunate to live his passion each day as a self-employed artist. Colin traveled to many art shows to sell his pieces, some of which have been bought by celebrities. Colin had an eclectic style and used many mediums for creating his art. He also loved to share his gift by teaching art lessons to children in the community.
Colin also worked in the restaurant industry, managing newly opened restaurants and helping get them off the ground. A people person, Colin's home was always open to visitors and a place for memorable gatherings. He enjoyed creating menus and cooking for his family and friends, often incorporating art into his food. He will be remembered for his pay it forward attitude and always helping those in need.
Colin was very involved in the Common Wealth Kitchen Incubator in Youngstown, which is a non-profit organization focused on rebuilding the local food economy through farmers' markets, a food co-op, healthy food kiosks and the kitchen incubator. Colin planted vegetable gardens on his property and sold the produce at the local farmer's markets, donating his earnings back to the organization.
Colin also enjoyed traveling, getting to see much of the west coast, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.
Colin is survived by his mother, Loretta and stepfather Robert Mackey of Poland; his sister, April Brown of Cortland; three nephews, Cody and Chase Stacy and Carmen Burke; and two nieces, Cierra Rasile and Ashley Brown.
In addition to his father, Colin was preceded in death by his brother, Christy Brown, Jr.
