Gary F. Broderick, 82, of Austintown, died on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Omni Manor Health Care Center in Youngstown. He was born on July 7, 1934 in Kent, Ohio.

He was a 1952 graduate of South High School and a 1968 graduate of Youngstown State University. Gary married his wife, the former Shirley Reardon, on October 10, 1953.

He was employed for 30 years at Youngstown Sheet & Tube/LTV/ J & L Steel Companies as an Industrial Engineer in Youngstown, Ohio, as well as Hobart and Munster, Indiana from where he retired in 1985.

Gary was a member of St Andrew's Episcopal Church, where he served as a lector and a church council member. He enjoyed reading, a good scotch, the ocean and his family, by whom he shall be missed.

He leaves two sons, Gary David (Lori) Broderick of Naples, Florida and Douglas D. (Melody) Broderick of Austintown; six grandchildren, Atty Jordan Broderick, Dr. Erin (Dr. Andrew Deak) Broderick, Michael (Erin) Broderick, Christopher (Chrissy) Broderick, Andrew and Alexander Broderick; as well as four great-grandchildren, Aliyana and Colton Broderick and Benedict and Theodore Deak. A fifth great-grandchild, Nathanial Broderick, is expected in April. A family pet Mountain a male black Labrador.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Shirley, who passed away January 21, 2015; his parents, Donald and June Broderick; and his younger brother, Laurence.

In honor of his wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private memorial service is to be held later in the spring.
