Columbiana -Glenn Johnson, 89, died Friday morning, April 7, 2017 at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Glenn was born August 21, 1927 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Bert and Estrid Anderson Johnson.

He was a 1945 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. In 1945, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to this area and attended Youngstown College, where he received his degree in engineering. Glenn was a self employed structural engineer for several years and then was employed with Boardman Steel as a structural engineer until his retirement.

He was a longtime member of Heritage Presbyterian Church, where he served in session and previously headed a building fund committee.

Glenn loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, rollerblading, camping, traveling, bicycling, and especially skiing, teaching his entire family how to. Glenn will always be remembered as a dedicated family man and a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, the former Dolores V. Toth, whom he married September 3, 1949; his daughter, Lynda (James) Armstrong of New Waterford; son, Brad (Julie) Johnson of Lakewood, CO; sister, Clarice Bates of St. Petersburg, FL; brother, Raymond (Mary) Johnson of Sabillasville, MD; four grandchildren, Scott (Kerin) Armstrong of Blythe, GA, Craig Armstrong of Salt Lake City, UT, Derek Johnson and Cole Johnson, both of Lakewood, CO; three great-grandchildren, Kelli (Matt) Fitzgerald of Savannah, GA, Paige McKenna and Tyler McKenna, both of Blythe, GA.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Heritage Presbyterian Church with Pastor Kristin Stroble officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, and Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.

Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in Mr. Johnson's name to Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Rd., Poland, Ohio 44514.
