Edna T. Vargo

Struthers - Edna T Vargo, 88 of Struthers, died Tuesday evening at her home.

Edna was born November 21, 1921 in New Salem, PA, a daughter of Joseph and Mary Hanzely Macejko.

She was a graduate of Struthers High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II. Edna was a member of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Infant Jesus of Prague Guild, and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was very active within the church, by cleaning the church, decorating the church and making pirohy. She loved to travel, quilting and egg decorating.

Her husband Stephen whom she married July 12, 1945 died July 16, 1977. She leaves two daughters, Susan (Ed) Mirich of Struthers, Elizabeth (Gary) Allgood of Poland; three sons, Peter (Bev) Vargo of Naples, FL, Stephen Vargo of Jefferson, OH, and Thomas Vargo of Youngstown; one sister, Rose Macejko of Struthers; one brother, Ed Macejko of Struthers; five grandchildren, Coleen Kramer, Edward Gasior, Michael Vargo, Thomas Vargo, and Phillip Vargo.

Besides her parents and husband, Edna was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Atty. Theodore, Daniel, and Steve Macejko.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Church with Rev. John Jerek officiating. Interment will follow at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Lowellville, Ohio.

Friends will be received Friday from 8:30 am until 9:30 am at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 am.

Saddened to hear of Aunt Edna's passing. Condolences to Aunt Rose and all the children. She was a dear person and an important part of my life as I grew up. I'll always remember my weekly visits.
