
AUSTINTOWN - Milan Kacar, 87 of Austintown, died Monday, July 19, 2010 at his daughter’s residence.
Mr. Kacar was born February 22, 1923 in Youngstown, a son of Steve and Mary Zvara Kacar.
He was a World War II Army Veteran, where he served in the Ardennes, the Rhineland and in Central Europe. He received the Good Conduct Medal, ATO Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He had worked for U.S Steel for 37 1/2 years as an Open Hearth operator, prior to his retirement in 1980. Mr. Kacar enjoyed going to casinos and playing cards. For the past two years, he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, he especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Jennifer Weingart, who he loved to tease and make laugh.
His wife, the former Eleanor DeChalk whom he married November 3, 1950, died September 3, 1983.
He is survived by three daughters Marilyn Weingart of Canfield, Renee (Marty) Koliser of Austintown, and Laura (Mark) Zigarevich of Palm Harbor, FL; three sons, Stanley (Anita) Kacar of Butler, Allen (Sherry) Kacar of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Milan (Joyce) Kacar of Gallatin, TN; one sister Betsy Thompson of Hubbard, OH, 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother Stanley Kacar, a sister Rose Taylor, two infant brothers, and a son-in-law Michael J. Weingart.
Funeral services will be private. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
