Augustine "Augie" Villone

April 30, 1930 — April 12, 2015

Poland - Augustine "Augie" Villone, 84, died Sunday evening, April 12, 2015 at his home.

Augustine, affectionately known as "Augie," was born on April 20, 1930, the middle son of Fortunato and Louise Raymond Villone.

Born and raised on the Southside of Youngstown, Augie was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He worked in the Seamless Department of the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company for 35 years, retiring in 1981. He then went to work for Dempsey Steel in Girard until 1985.

Mr. Villone was a lifelong member of St. Dominic Church.

Augie was very particular about his yard and his garden, which he so much enjoyed. He moved from his Southside home to Poland in 2004. One of his biggest joys was going to his grandchildren's sporting events, never missing a one. His family meant everything to him.

His wife of 36 years, the former Jeannette Murphy, whom he married June 30, 1953, preceded him in death on October 18, 1989. He leaves one daughter, Dee (Anthony "Bo") Mancini of Poland; son, Michael Villone, with whom he made his home; four grandchildren, Nicole (Dr. Matthew) Gugliotti of New Middletown, Michael (Becca) Mancini of New Middletown, Dominic Villone, and Angelo Villone, both of Poland; two great-grandchildren, Gino and Dominic Gugliotti; one sister-in-law, Laura Jean Villone of Poland; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Rocco and George Villone.

A prayer service will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Church. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Villone and Mancini families would like to give a very special thank you for the love and care Augie received for the last three years from his caregiver, Fran.
