Clyde Thomas Allshouse

Struthers - Clyde Thomas Allshouse, 88, of Struthers, died Wednesday afternoon, September 10, 2014 at the Commons at Greenbriar in Boardman.

Clyde was born October 7, 1925 in Struthers, a son of Preston and Vada Knepshield Allshouse.

A life-long resident of Struthers, Clyde was a graduate of Struthers High School, January Class of 1944. After graduation Clyde served in the United States Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946.

Returning to Struthers, Clyde worked as a steel analyst for Youngstown Sheet & Tube and then LTV, retiring in 1983 after 37 years of service. He then went on to work in housekeeping for Strouss Department Store, later Kaufman's, and then Macy's.

Clyde was a member of Sulgrave Masonic Lodge F&AM 696 for over 50 years. Clyde was raised in the Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers and in 1953 joined the Struthers Presbyterian Church now known as theStruthers Parkside Church. At the Struthers Presbyterian Church he served as an Elder and Usher. Clyde was a life-long fan of the New York Yankees and the Struthers Wildcats.

Clyde's wife of 60 years, the former Mary Jeffery, whom he married June 20, 1953 died March 13, 2013; he leaves his son, Jeffery Allshouse of Struthers; brother, Donald Allshouse of Boardman; sister, Sally Orosz of Struthers; sister-in-law, Glenna Jeffery of Boardman; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, Clyde was preceded in death by his brother, Cliff Allshouse; and sisters, Garnet Port and Margaret Allshouse.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the Struthers Parkside Church, 110 Poland Ave., with Pastor James Berkebile and Chaplain Dan Tayman officiating. Private Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

There are no calling hours.
