Youngstown - Joan E. Sopko, 83, died April 18, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman.
Mrs. Sopko was born November 24, 1930 in Youngstown, a daughter of Michael F. and Margaret J. Ford Baker

She was a member of Faith Community Covenant Church, where she was the organist for over 30 years, retiring in 1985.
Joan was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading and watching sports.

Her husband, David M. Sopko, whom she married, Sept. 27, 1964, died Dec. 22, 2006

She was survived by a sister in law, Janet D. Baker of Poland; two nephews, J. Thomas Sopko Cambridge, MA and James (Linda) Baker of McDonald; two nieces, Susan Sopko of Boardman and Terry Kay (Steve) Dix of Chillicothe; cousin, Christine Dalton of Broomoll, PA; and great nieces and nephews, Bethany Dix,
Lindsey Dix, Christopher Baker, Gregory Baker, Amanda Esmond, Jennie Celik, and Kimberly Saviers.

Besides her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by a brother, James M. Baker.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland.

The family requests donations by made in Joan's memory to Faith Community Covenant Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown, OH 44502.
