John Ziccardi

New Middletown - John Ziccardi, 66, of New Middletown, died early Monday morning, September 22, 2014 at the Greenbriar surrounded by his beloved family.

John was born October 17, 1947 in Youngstown, the eldest son of the late Thomas and Marian DiLullo Ziccardi.

John attended Poland Seminary High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968 and served on the USS Valley Forge off the coast of Vietnam. Returning home, John worked at Commercial Shearing and Stamping. He then went on to become a Meat Cutter/Manager for Fisher Fazio's, Sparkle Market, Finest, Apples, and then Giant Eagle.

John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown.

Besides his wife, the former Elisa Sorvillo whom he married October 16, 1971; he also leaves behind his four children, Christina (David) Horton of Struthers, John Ziccardi, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Michael (Rachael) Ziccardi of Struthers, and Nicole (Dale) Nitzsky of Boardman; nine grandchildren, Samuel, Jonathan, Sarah, Sophia, Olivia, Zachary, Erin, Hannah, and Dale; and two brothers, Thomas (Janice) Ziccardi and Robert (Debra) Ziccardi both of Poland.

Family and friends will be received Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main Street, Poland, where a Prayer Service will be held Friday at 9:15 AM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 10:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Church. Interment will follow at the Lake Park Cemetery.
