Margaret A. Gentile

New Middletown - Margaret Ann (Burick) Gentile, 101 and 3/4 years old, formerly of Struthers, died early Sunday morning, March 29, 2015 at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center in New Middletown.
Margaret, affectionately known as "Peggy" and "Peanut" was born July 1, 1913 in Leetonia, a daughter of Pete and Eva Senich Burick. Peggy and her family moved to Struthers in 1928.
Mrs. Gentile first worked in housekeeping for Maplecrest Nursing Home as a young woman. During World War II, she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" at Truscon Steel as a welder. She retired from LaFrance Dry Cleaning, where she worked as a clerk for many years. Peggy also worked for several years at her friend's business, Dairyland Restaurant in Struthers.
Peggy enjoyed traveling with family and friends, making crafts, cooking, and spending time with her nieces. Mrs. Gentile also loved listening to the John Grahovic and Don Williams Band, who played at her 100th birthday party and monthly at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center. Peggy and the other residents voted them best band of 2014 and 2015.
She was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers.
Peggy is survived by two special nieces who helped take care of her, Eva Smith and Della Elia.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gentile was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Eva Gentile, seven sisters, and three brothers.
A service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery Chapel, 3900 Villa Marie Rd., Lowellville.
The family would like to thank Drs. Walter Passarello, Ted Faull, and Joseph Masternick, and the wonderful nurses and staff at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center in New Middletown for the dedicated and excellent care they gave to Peggy over the years. Also, a thank you to Shirley Monroe of Comfort Keepers for the years of compassionate care and Hospice of the Valley for the care they provided to Peggy in her final days.
