Ralph A. Cervello

November 18, 1921 — February 25, 2015

Boardman - Ralph A. Cervello, 93, died Wednesday evening, February 25, 2015 at The Commons at the Greenbriar.

Ralph was born November 18, 1921 in Youngstown, a son of Alphonso and Domenica Arquilla Cervello.

Raised in Youngstown, Ralph graduated from The Rayen School in 1942. At the time of his graduation, the United States was fighting in World War II. Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a Teletype Operator. He fought in the Battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.

A mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, Ralph worked at the Austintown Post Office for 30 years, retiring December 29, 1983.

Ralph enjoyed bowling and was a member of "Happy Seniors" Bowling League. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family. When his son retired, they traveled together to Italy and Ireland.

Mr. Cervello was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church.

His wife, the former Angela Corr, whom he married November 18, 1944, preceded him in death on September 16, 2001. He leaves one son, Al Cervello of Canfield; two sisters, Judy (Ray) Denmeade of Struthers and Phyllis Smesko of Cortland; two grandchildren, Alphonse (Kelley) Cervello and Amy Cervello; three great grandchildren, Cameron, Aidan, and Seth Cervello; and Linda Cervello and Ella Bevins and their families, all of who held a special place in Ralph's heart.

Besides his parents and wife, Ralph was preceded in death by six sisters, Josephine Restivo, Edith Kutchel, Betty Dovidio, Mary DiEugenio, Elvie Buccilla, and Helen Buccilla.

Services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, with Fr. Edward Noga officiating. Interment will be at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 2-3:45 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.

The family suggests that any memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Ralph's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
