Raymond Edgar Schwab II "Schwabie" died peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2015 after a three day stay at the Hospice of the Valley House, with his loving family by his side. Ray was always hopeful while bravely enduring complications from pancreatic cancer for the past six months, Ray even had his garden planted one week prior to his passing.
Ray was born and raised in Struthers, Ohio the only son of William "Butch" and Margaret "Peggy" (Higgins) Schwab on May 29, 1963.
Besides the loves of his life, his nephews Ryan and Donnie he was most proud of his "Schwab" name and the respect he received from his peers as a journeyman pipefitter for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 396. Schwabie recently received his "25 year" pin from the local. Ray's career included working at many refineries across the country, including Boston and New Middletown. Ray completed the Atlanta Plumber and Steamfitters Apprenticeship program, then transferring back home. He was a 1981 graduate of Struthers High School, and attended the Mahoning County Joint Vocational School.
Ray is survived by his mother Margaret "Peggy" (Higgins) Schwab and his loving family Patricia A. (Lawrence) McQuillan, nephew Ryan P. McQuillan, of Poland, Denise G. (Donald Jr) Yoho, nephew Donald Lee Yoho III (fiancé Amanda E. Griffis) of New Springfield and sister Ellen Schwab (Mark Cooper) Junction City and numerous loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and good friends. Ray was preceded in death by his father William "Butch" Schwab March 22, 2014, as well as grandparents, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
