New Middletown - Thomas Ziccardi, 92, of New Middletown, formerly of Poland, died Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center where he resided for the last 5 years.

Mr. Ziccardi, affectionately known as Tucker, was born May 12, 1922 in Lowellville, a son of John and Madeline Ziccardi.

A United States Navy Veteran, Tucker served during World War II from 1942 until 1945 as a gunner.

He worked as an auto body repairman for Youngstown Buick, Berger Motors, Steel City Chevrolet and Beede Poorman. He later worked in the maintenance department in the kitchen at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. He retired August 28, 1984. Tucker enjoyed gardening and working on cars for his family and friends. He was a 65 year member of the Lowellville American Legion.

Tucker's wife, the former Marian Ruth DiLullo, whom he married September 4, 1943 died December 30, 2012. He leaves three sons, John (Elisa) Ziccardi of New Middletown, who passed away yesterday, Monday, September 22, Thomas (Janice) Ziccardi Jr. of Lowellville and Robert (Debra) Ziccardi of Poland; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, Tucker was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary DiCiccio, Carmel Romeo, and Marian Masey; and four brothers, Anthony Ziccardo, Frank, Joseph, and Michael Ziccardi.

Private graveside services will be held today at Lowellville Cemetery.

Tucker's family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the wonderful care provided by the staff at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center.
