Carl J. Damore

December 22, 1929 ~ June 6, 2019 (age 89)

New Waterford - Carl J. Damore, 89, formerly of Youngstown, died Thursday evening, June 6, 2019 at his home, surrounded by family. 

Carl was born December 22, 1929 in Youngstown, a son of the late James and Constance (Wooley) Damore.

He was a graduate of The Rayen School and received his Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University. Mr. Damore began his career as a pharmacist at Grey's Pharmacy in the Wedgewood Plaza before taking a pharmacist position with Rite Aid, working at numerous area stores, retiring in 1991. 

Mr. Damore was a veteran and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. He was a member of Wedgewood Park Evangelical Church in Austintown. 

A dedicated husband and father, Carl was a true family man and centered himself around his family. Over the years, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, visiting all 50 states, Italy, Mexico, and Canada. He enjoyed sitting down to a good meal and loved playing cards with family and friends. 

His is survived by his wife, the former Carol J. Lowry, whom he married June 27, 1959; his daughter, Connie (Brad Bader) Drohn of New Waterford; brother, Paul (Geri) Damore of Austintown; two grandchildren, Jessica (Adam Phelps) Drohn of Austintown and Angela (Kyle McQuistion) Drohn of Columbiana; two nieces, Hope (Jim) Fossesca of Canfield and Jodi Damore of Struthers; and his nephew, Eric Damore of Boardman. 

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his great niece, Izabella Custer-Damore. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman with Pastor Jim Hansen officiating. Interment will follow at the Tod Homestead Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received on Monday from 5-7 p.m. and Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
