Canfield - Donald R."Huck" Weaver, 87, died early Friday morning, April 21, 2017, at his son's home, after a short illness.
Donald, better known as "Huck" by family and friends was born September 25, 1929 in Shamokin, PA, a son of Joseph and Lizzie Maurer Weaver.
After coming to the Youngstown area in 1951, he joined the Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder, served on several committees, including the Church Building Committee, and volunteered many hours with building projects and maintenance.
Mr. Weaver worked the majority of his career as a carpenter and started his own company, Weaver & Sons Home Remodeling, in 1972.
A car enthusiast, Huck was a member of the Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club and enjoyed attending car shows with his 1940 Packard. Some of his other favorite past times including spending time with his family, golfing, playing cards with family and friends, and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Huck also enjoyed tinkering with home projects and loved lending a helping hand to family and friends on their projects.
His wife, the former Phyllis Beury, whom he married October 29, 1949, preceded him in death on September 19, 2013. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Donald Weaver, Jr., 10 brothers; and 4 sisters.
He is survived by two daughters, Gail Ann (George) Bayer of Youngstown and Cynthia (Jeffrey) McMurray of Walkertown, NC; three sons, Gregg (Karen) Weaver of Salem, Jeffrey (Diane) Weaver of Boardman, and Randy (Lynn) Weaver of Douglasville, GA; 14 grandchildren, Terri Weaver, Jennifer (Richard) Hunter, George (Amanda) Bayer III, Amanda Bayer, Jessica (Joseph) Boyle, Dr. Joshua (Melissa) Weaver, Jacob (Amy) Weaver, Jordan (Amy) Weaver, Kristen (Anthony) Weaver, Michael Herrmann, Scott (Charlene) Herrmann, Timothy McMurray, John McMurray, and Daniel (Tina) McMurray; 24 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Karen Weaver of Canfield; and a brother, Joseph (Irene) Weaver of Acushnet, Mass.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Family and friends will be received on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman and on Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church, prior to the service.
