Poland - Jack Robert Hamilton, Jr., 83, of Poland, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at noon at the Hospice of the Valley's Hospice House.
Jack was born July 15, 1935 in Youngstown, a son of Jack and Bernice Womer Hamilton.
He was raised in Boardman and was a 1953 graduate of Boardman High School. After high school, Jack enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean Conflict. He was later assigned to Washington D.C. where he worked as a photographer in the Photographic Laboratory. He was honorably discharged in 1961, and was hired as a photographer for National Geographic where he worked for the following two years.
Returning to the area, Jack made his home in Poland where he worked as a photographer at WKBN. In addition to photography, Jack worked as a texture/engraver at Moldtech where he worked for 15 years until founding Innovative Texture Inc. in 1989. He retired in 2007.
Always adventuresome, Jack loved to travel throughout the United States and abroad. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, camping, boating and fishing on Lake Berlin, parasailing in the Caribbean, and celebrated his 70th birthday sky diving. In high school he enjoyed tennis and later became an avid golfer and was a member of the Firestone Country Club. He also enjoyed attending car shows.
Jack was a wonderful husband and father and devoted grandfather, and his memories will be cherished by those who loved him.
His wife, the former JoAnn Slavick, whom he married July 16, 1955, passed on Feb 18, 2012. He leaves one daughter, Joyce (Peter) Kohler of Poland; two grandchildren, Juli Swesey and Jack R. (Allie Vistein) Hamilton III, all of Poland.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Gordan Hamilton.
It was Jack's wishes that there would be no services.
