James S. McGoogan, 60

Struthers - James S. McGoogan, 60, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital surrounded by his family.

Jim was born March 16, 1962 in Youngstown, OH, a  son of  the late George and Grace (Cochenour) McGoogan.

He graduated from Ursuline High School in 1980 and was a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley.

Jim was a welder and worked for Youngstown Tube Company in Youngstown for over 20 years.

In his free time, Jim was a woodworker and enjoyed carpentry.  He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Cassie M. (John) Merkle of Oak Ridge, TN; two grandchildren, Dominic J. Colon of Davenport, FL and  Rowan S. Merkle of TN; two sisters, Patricia (Edward) Fletcher of West Middlesex, PA, and Laura  Ruby of Pulaski, PA; three brothers, Mark (Luann Rathy) McGoogan of PA, David (Allison) McGoogan of Leetonia, OH, and Tom Edward (Andrea) McGoogan of Poland, OH; and sister-in-law, Cheryl McGoogan of Myrtle Beach, SC.

Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul McGoogan, and  Daniel McGoogan.

Per Jim's request, a private memorial service was held at St. Angela Merici Parish in Youngstown with Fr. Kevin Peters officiating.

Per the family's request, material tributes can take the form of contributions to the donor's favor charity in memory of Jim.

Arrangements are being handled by Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring Street in Struthers.
