John "Mark" Montgomery

John (Mark) Montgomery, 71, formerly of New Castle, Pennsylvania, passed away Friday morning, June 21st, 2024, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House. 

He was born June 17, 1953, the son of the late John (Jack) and Miriam Heckart Montgomery. He was a 1971 graduate of Union High School and played football at Geneva College before completing his studies at YSU. He put himself through school by installing flooring and moving furniture, eventually becoming a CPA and establishing his own accounting practice which he operated for over 30 years. 

Mark was never happier than when he had a fishing rod in his hand. In his later years he thoroughly enjoyed his beloved pontoon boat, fishing and tubing with his grandsons. 

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dr. Kathleen Wolanin Montgomery; his daughter, Emily (Jason) Myers of New Middletown, Ohio; and his son, Kerr Robert Montgomery of Columbus, Ohio. In addition, he is survived by his sister, JoEllen Primavere of Burlington, North Carolina; his grandsons, Cooper and Owen Myers; along with several nieces and nephews. 

There will be no visitation or calling hours. At Mark's request some of his ashes will be scattered at a family boat outing. The rest will be spread by his globe-trotting son in his ancestral land of Scotland.
