Joseph Romeo, 70 Struthers- Joseph Frank Romeo, 70, of 933 Garfield Street died Friday evening in St. Elizabeth Health Center. Mr. Romeo was born January 20, 1932 in Struthers a son of James and Edith Matteo Romeo. He was a lifelong resident of Struthers. He retired September 28, 1998 as the Bailiff of the Struthers Area Court after 25 years. Prior to that he had been the Second Ward Councilman in 1969 and the Safety Service Director of the City for three years from 1971 through 1973. The court jurisdiction included Struthers, Poland Village and Township, Springfield Township, Lowellville and New Middletown. He had set over 12,000 hearings and had served over 30,000 subpoenas. He graduated from Struthers High School in 1950, attended Kent State University and received a drafting degree from Pittsburgh Technical Institute. Mr. Romeo was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1951 through 1954. He was a member of St. Nicholas Church. He was a member of the Struthers Esquire Club, the Struthers Athletic Club and itâa�a��s golf league, the Vagabond golf league and had sponsored the annual Joseph Romeo Golf Outing at Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed history and touring Civil War Battlefields. He had an interest in wildlife and the environment. He leaves his wife, the former Mary Ann Lucarell whom he married April 15, 1978; a daughter, Melissa (Kenneth) Nord of Divide, Colorado; a sister Angeline Green of Orlando, Florida; a brother, John; and numerous nieces and nephews. A sister, Nancy St. Pierre and brothers Nicholas and Vincent are deceased. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Monday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Services will be at 11:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home and a funeral mass will be at noon in St. Nicholas Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard E.
