Youngstown -Joseph J. Santha, 86, of Youngstown, passed away June 2, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Joann Santha.

Born August 28, 1937 in Youngstown, a son of the late Larry and Julia (Serensky) Santha.

Joseph was a 1957 graduate of Chaney High School where he met the love of his life, Joann. After high school, he joined the United States Army Reserves and served for six years. He then worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube for 10 years until General Motors opened where he then worked for 35 years until his retirement. Joe and Joann were married on May 9, 1959, and just celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage. The two were blessed with their two children and later their grandson.
Joe was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Post 3298. Joe and Joann enjoyed going on many cruises to see the world, 13 of them to be exact, although Joe would tell you that he never favored cruising in Alaska since it was a bit too cold for him. They enjoyed the winter months at their second home in West View Ridge Park in Haines City, Florida where they made so many close friends. Joe and Joann expressed their love for camping by being members of Western Reserve Campground since 1971. There they met many people who became great neighbors and friends.

One who loved to make others laugh and smile, Joe was known for being a jokester and often enjoyed expressing his sense of humor. One of his favorite holidays was Halloween. He loved being able to play tricks on people at the campground, hosting and dressing up for Halloween parties. He enjoyed ordering pizza around Christmas time since his last name sounds like he is ordering for “Santa.” A handyman is one description everyone can say about Joe. He is known for being able to fix and build anything. You could say he had all the ability to build a house. Above all, he cherished his moments being a loving husband, father, and grandpa.

In addition to his loving wife, Joann, he leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, Lynn Marie Santha (Mike Higgins) of Boardman and Joseph (Julie) Santha, Jr., of Boardman; his grandsons, Cade (Erik)Joseph Santha, Branson Gagliano and Billy Jones; sister, Ethel (Joseph) Kripchak; Plus several nieces and nephew's along with his beloved cats, Larry and Moe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Santha.

In keeping with his wishes, services are private to the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Davis-Becker Funeral Home, Boardman.
