She was born May 9, 1929 in Struthers, a daughter of the late George and Pauline (Magula) Gerak. She graduated from Struthers High School in 1947 and dedicated her life to raising her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons-in-law, Gregory Martin of Cortland and George Dunham of New Middletown; her grandson, Joshua Dunham and his wife, Deana of Jacksonville, FL; her great-granddaughter, Audrey; her sister, Ann Romero of CA; and her sister-in-law, Flo Gerak of Hubbard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Semonza; her daughters, Patricia A. Martin and Barbara Dunham; her grandson, Jason Dunham and his wife, Melissa; great-grandchildren, Amber, Renee, and Evan; and siblings, Rose Stefano, Margaret Tonya, George and Steve Gerak.
Per Katherine's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. She will be cremated and laid to rest with her husband in Poland Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any material contributions be made to St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, 764 Fifth Street, Struthers, OH 44471, in her memory.
