Kurt L. Jones

Youngstown- Kurt L. Jones, 57, of Boardman, was welcomed home by his lord and savior on June 29, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital- Youngstown.

Born October 21, 1966, in Youngstown, he was a son to the late Emmett and Sharlane (Kerns) Jones. 

Kurt was a 1985 graduate of Struthers High School. A Godly and family man at heart, Kurt made it a point in life to instill the Christian values and the word of the lord to his children, making these values an important role in life. He became a wonderful mentor to many young people in his life including the young boys that he coached in Pee Wee football. Kurt took great pride in enjoying the simple things in life that God has granted him. Whether it was fishing on Mosquito Creek Lake or kicking back and rooting for the Steelers, there was no doubt that the greatest blessing of Kurt’s was his children and family. 

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children; Shar’Linda (Carlisle) Carter, of Canton, Charmonique Jones, of Etna, Sharlane Jones, of Boardman, Chare (Timmell) Hosey, of Akron and Kurt Jones, of Akron; grandchildren, Kayonna, Anthony, Aaronae, Chase, Jedi, Kimora, Isreal, Areya and Amina; siblings, Tim (Maxine) Jones, of Niles, Eric (Celest) Jones, of Suffolk, VA, Darryl Jones, of Columbus, Anthony Austin, of Akron, Valencia Jones, of Campbell, Bahja Austin, of Akron, Rani Weaver, of Akron; his mother-in-law, Christine (Randy) Hampton, of Akron; his former spouse of many years, Yolanda Jones; four aunts; two uncles; seventeen nieces and nephews; as well as host of cousins and many close friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters and brother-in-law, Gwen and Tony Edwards, Vickie Benton and Toni Kerns; and his grandson Ezekiel Jones.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St, Youngstown, OH 44507 where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
