Poland - Philip T. Crowe, 86, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.
Philip was born October 24, 1937 in Atlanta, GA, a son of the late Herman and Dorothy Chastain Crowe.
Raised in Atlanta, he was a 1955 graduate of West Fulton High School and furthered his education at Georgia State University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Mr. Crowe worked in the computer science field for Lockheed Martin Corporation, before retiring after 24 years of dedicated service. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he established his own successful homebuilding company and built many homes showcasing his talent as a craftsman and carpenter. In retirement, Philip and his wife Donna relocated to New Waterford, Ohio and then to Poland, Ohio.
Beyond his career accomplishments, Philip's true joy stemmed from his role as a devoted family man. He cherished spending time with his loved ones and took immense pride in being "Poppy" to his grandchildren. In his leisure time, he enjoyed traveling, working in the yard, DIY home projects, and cooking. Known for whipping up hearty breakfasts and southern comfort food dishes, he delighted in experimenting with new recipes.
Mr. Crowe was a United States Army veteran and a member of the Greenford Christian Church.
Philip is survived by his wife, the former Donna Echols, whom he married September 5, 1964; children, Philip "Ty" Crowe, Jr. of Newnan, GA, Julie Crowe of Poland, and Stephen Crowe of Poland; grandchildren, Sarah Crowe, Hannah (Sonny III) Barnett, Abigail Crowe, and Jay Crowe; great-grandson, Sonny Barnett, IV; and faithful companion, Addie, his Chihuahua.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 5:00-6:45 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland, where a funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m.
Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in Mr. Crowe's name to the Greenford Christian Church, 11767 Lisbon Rd., Greenford, Ohio 44422.
