Raymond Altiero 80 Lowellville- Raymond Altiero, 80, of Maplecrest Nursing Home, Struthers, formerly of 689 W. Wood Street, Lowellville, died early Wednesday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Mr. Altiero was born November 21, 1921, a son of Gaetano and Francisca DiCiccio Altiero. He worked for Sharon Steel Corporation until itâa�a��s closing and then Falcon Foundry, retiring in 1974. He served as a Lowellville Fireman for over 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Altiero graduated from Lowellville High School where he played football and baseball. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church where he was past president of the Menâa�a��s Club. He had been actively involved in obtaining limestone in the construction of the church and later in fund raising. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Society for 40 years. He was a past president of the Lowellville Senior Citizens and a member of the Coitsville Senior Citizens. He was a member of American Legion Post 247. He umpired little league baseball for over 25 years. He leaves his wife, the former Loeta Markstrom, whom he married May 20, 1944, and four daughters, Marsha, Darlene, and Kathy Altiero and Cheryl Sandora, all of Lowellville; a sister, Elizabeth Donofrio, of Hillsville, PA.; and a granddaughter Sara Elizabeth Sandora. His step-father Emido Greco; two sisters, Laura Rotz and Virginia Schiraldi, a half-sister Eleanor Vaparides and a half-brother Al Greco are deceased. A prayer service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville. Followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 at Holy Rosary Church. Friends may call 5-8 Friday at the funeral home.
