Reverend Thomas M. Spisak Warren- Reverend Thomas M. Spisak, 59, a priest of the Diocese of Youngstown, died Thursday at the rectory of St. Mary Church, Warren. Father Spisak was born September 15, 1942 in Youngstown, the son of Andrew and Mary Helen Kozusko Spisak. He attended Reed School, St. John the Baptist School and graduated from Campbell Memorial High School. Following graduation he attended Youngstown State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Westminster College where he received a Masters in Education. In 1973 he began his seminary studies at St. Mary Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland, and April 2, 1977 was ordained a priest by Bishop P. Francis Murphy as a member of the Order of the Most Holy Trinity. He remained a member of this religious order until his incardination into the Diocese of Youngstown in 1988. Following ordination, Father Spisak served as an associate pastor in New Jersey, Texas, Pennsylvania and Missouri. His priestly ministry within the Diocese of Youngstown included pastoral assignments at St. Rose Parish, Girard, St. Joseph Parish, Massillon, St. Mary Parish, Warren, St. Patrick Parish, Kent and St. Stephen of Hungary Parish, Youngstown. In 1990 he was named pastor of SS. Cyril and Methodius Parish, Warren and 1995 pastor of Christ Our King Parish, Warren. For reasons of health he resigned the pastorate of these parishes in 1998. Since then, Father Spisak has been in residence at St. Mary Parish, Warren. Father Spisak is survived by his mother, Mary Helen Spisak, one sister, Mary Alice Borkesz , a niece Mary Beth (Robert) Housel and one grandnephew Robert Joseph Housel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 28, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Church, Warren. Friends may call Thursday, February 27th from 4-7 PM at St. Mary Church and one hour prior to the service on Friday. The family request Memorial Tributes take the form of contributions to NAMI, National Alliance for Mental Illness c/o Colonial Place Three, 2107 Wilson Blvd., Suite 300, Arlington, Virgiana 22201. Arrangements are by Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers.
