Thelma M. Meek

Thelma M. Meek, 96 Cornersburg- Thelma M. Meek, 96, of 3420 Bentwillow Lane, died Wednesday afternoon at Forum Northside Hospital. She was born September 15, 1905, in Mt. Savage, MD, a daughter of the late Samuel and Laura Herring Blank. She has been a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Meek worked for Ohio Bell as the Supervisor of Long Distance Operators. She retired in 1963, after 38 years of service. She was also a member of the Western Reserve Methodist Church, where she attended regularly until her illness. She loved her church and its people. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and Cornersburg Happy Seniors. She loved to read and was proud of her independence, which she had until one week before her death. Besides her husband the late Andrew Meek, whom she married September 14, 1944, and who died December 26, 1981, she leaves her long time friend of 61 years Carolyne Ahrendt; several nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by six bothers and six sisters. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM, Saturday at the Cunningham- Becker Funeral Home, Poland. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 PM, Friday and again on Saturday from 10-10:45 AM, prior to the service.
