Urban Anthony Olmi

Boardman - Urban “Herb” Anthony Olmi, 72, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024 surrounded by his family at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.

He was born June 6, 1952 in Youngstown, the son of the late Urban and Mary (Mangin) Olmi. He graduated from Rayen High School and then earned his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Youngstown State University. He worked for several places over the years, and ultimately owned and operated Dinesol Plastics until his retirement.

Herb was the true definition of a family man. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren with all his heart and soul. He had an infectious voice and laugh that brought so much joy and his smile would brighten even the dimmest of days. He was a lifelong member of the Four Square Club and in his spare time, he loved to travel, whether it be to Gettysburg, the beach, or across Europe with his family. Herb was a lover of classical music. He studied opera and sang tenor before making his career in engineering. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and then joined St. Patrick Catholic Church later in life.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 49 years, the former Becky J. Barrett, whom he married March 22, 1975; his children, Amy (William) Amendol of Boardman and Michael (Dannielle) Olmi of Poland; his grandchildren, Matthew Amendol, Owen, Carter, and Lily Olmi; and his brother-in-law, Joseph Jasinski.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna (Olmi) Jasinski.

Friends will be received on Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1420 Oak Hill Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44507. He will be laid to rest at Brookville Cemetery in Brookville, PA.
