Beverly A. Chorey

February 23, 1933 — January 1, 2021

Poland

Poland - Beverly A. Chorey, 87, formerly of Canfield, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2021 at Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House, surrounded by her family.

Beverly was born February 23, 1933 in Tonasket, WA, daughter of the late Harold and Evelyn (Mortenson) Farver.

She graduated from Tonasket High School in the rural Okanogan Valley of Washington state and traveled to San Rafael, California to attend Dominican College to study education.

Beverly was a member of Holy Family Church, a former member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Canfield, and Holy Rosary Church in Tonasket while she left her home in Canfield to care for her aging mother. Faith was a very important part of her life and she was very active in church ministries. Beverly taught CCD for close to 30 years at St. Michael and Holy Rosary parishes.

She had many interests, was a voracious reader and knowledgeable on many subjects. To just name a few, she had compiled extensive genealogical research on her family, was very knowledgeable about all forms of literature, antiques and many kinds of collectables. She would periodically do programs for various clubs and organizations with her extensive button collection. The most outstanding characteristics of Beverly were her pleasant demeanor and kind heart. Beverly had friends wherever she went. She was patient, loyal, and encouraging to all who knew her. You didn't have to spend much time with her before you would become a friend. This was clearly demonstrated late in her life with her association with "The Friends of Poland Library" and her many volunteer hours in the library bookstore. She loved the other volunteers who became dear friends and the many customers whom she assisted in finding just the right book.

Beverly is survived by two sons, James E. (Kathy) Chorey of Seattle, WA and Andrew D. (Jacqueline) Chorey of Poland, with whom she made her home; a brother Dean (Marsha) Farver of Seattle, WA; two grandsons; a great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews who were very special to her.

Besides her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Chorey; and two sons, Lt. John R. Chorey, and Mark R. Chorey.

Due to COVID-19, there was a private service held at Holy Family Church in Poland with Fr. Matthew Hummerickhouse officiating. Beverly will be laid to rest by her beloved husband at Canfield Village Cemetery.

Some of Beverly's fondest memories were of family camping trips from northeast Ohio to her childhood home in Washington state. She was full of compassion and had a heart for children and adults with special needs. The family requests material tributes in memory of Beverly take the form of contributions to Golden String, 32 Fifth Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44503. The contributions will be applied toward "Gabbacamp," a special campground and swimming pool for disabled adults located in Coitsville, Ohio.

Arrangements are being handled by the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland.
