Bill Hays

Boardman - William P. Hays Jr., 66, of Boardman, died Monday morning June 24, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, OH. Bill was born February 17, 1953 in Cleveland, OH, the son of William and Margaret (Gallagher) Hays.

He was a graduate of the University of Dayton. He moved to the area in 1990 where he had a career in transportation and distribution and raised his family. In retirement, he enjoyed gardening, making wood projects and toys for his grandchildren, cooking, reading the daily papers, and following the Cleveland Indians.

He leaves his wife of 38 years, Priscilla (Abrams) Hays. He was the beloved father of four children, Anne (Aaron) Chapin of Chicago, IL, Kacey (Jack O'Leary) Hays of Los Angeles, CA, Emily Hays of Carlisle, PA, and Thomas Hays of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren, Maxwell and Emilia Chapin and August O'Leary; a brother, Jim (Sharon) Hays of Columbus, OH; two sisters, Debbie (Mike) Piwkowski of Cleveland, OH, and Mary (Gordon) Jennings of Chicago, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Paula Hays.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 29, 2019 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Youngstown. The Reverend Gayle Catinella will officiate. Calling hours will begin at 9:00 AM at the church prior to the service.
