Poland - Esther H. Stewart, 87 of Poland, OH, passed Thursday February 27, 2019 in St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center. She was born June 30, 1931 in Petersburg, Ohio, the daughter of Ray and Edna (Brickman) Heindel and had been a resident of Poland most of her life.
She was a graduate of North Lima High School, the class of 1949. Esther completed her undergraduate studies at Mount Union College and earned her Master's degree in Education from Youngstown State University. Esther taught second grade in the Poland school system for many years. She was a member of Poland Presbyterian Church where she had served as a deacon and was active in scholarship selections. She was also active for many years at the Canfield Fair, as a 4-H leader in her youth and as the director of the Arts and Crafts building. She attended the fair for 85 consecutive years. She was an active fan and supporter of Poland sports.
She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Cloy H. Stewart, whom she married August 2, 1952; her daughter, Cindy (Rick) Dimit of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her son, Doug (Tami) Stewart of Pittsford, New York, and five grandchildren. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Virginia Stewart and several nieces and nephews, as well as many loving friends.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday March 2, 2019 at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Friends may call from 11:00-12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
